Description

First real cold of the year. Somebody's up the hill with a handsaw, and when the tree finally goes over it brings a shelf of snow down with it. Sticky gloves, breath hanging, a hundred yards of dragging left before the truck.

Black Tie — Frosted lemon peel, icy mint, alpine air. Cold and clean, everything above the treeline.
Barn — Blue spruce, evergreen boughs, weathered cedar, forest moss, conifer resin. Everything below it.
