this is the first cocktail marketed fragrance i'd give 5 stars to. almost never a fan of these--particularly the ultra fruity or sweet. what makes this work is the sophisticated balance of woody, ambery notes which deepen the complexity. the nightcap reminds me of a special trip i had to chicago with my grandma as a teenager. she delighted in exploring with me and trying water taxis, soaring with excitement to the 110th floor, evening jazz concerts under a setting millennium park sun, speedboat rides, a ghost tour, walking everywhere and pausing at local cafe's for artisanal gelato, and at least one wednesday night firework show on navy pier that was the best we'd ever seen and totally unexpected. we stayed on the lake and at night we could smell the air and hear the waves crashing on the shore--sometimes we went on the giant Ferris wheel without seatbelts. we kind of became one with the people, warm summer air, and the city lights and skyscrapers. the nightcap is just fun and happy all-around in a playful, quirky way. my grandma is no longer able to walk for very long and this fragrance reminds me of not only her smile but our special relationship and one of my favorite trips i've had in my life with anyone.
